3 DAYS COCHIN-MUNNAR-CHINNAR WILDLIFE TOUR | ABOUT THE TOUR
Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the leeward of Anamudi Hills, an array of highest peaks of Western Ghats at 2600MSL plus. A sudden fall of the mountains in its leeward formed a lower plateau at 500MSL , before it rising up at Palani hills. Hence the land is in the rainshadow , receives only scanty rains. The forest type is tropical dry deciduous or Savannah type dominated by thorny scrubs and bushes. It shares flora and fauna with Kukkal valley of Anamalai tiger reserve. The forest is ideal for walking safari and jungle camp throughout the year. It is an elephant kingdom with good number of leopard, wild dog, deer, gaur etc. This 3 day long exclusive walking safari and camping programme in Chinnar offers wildlife trek through different ranges of the sanctuary and camping. Early human habitation debris are reported from this sanctuary dominated by cave arts, dolmen, habitation debris etc
WALKING SAFARI AND JUNGLE CAMP
The very first day you will be received by our naturalist at Marayur, a village in the outskirt of Chinnar. After a brief of programme you will be transferred to Chinnar. You will get a afternoon walking safari in the east range of the sanctuary with a log cabin camping in wildlife zone. Dinner , water , tea etc will be provided in the camp. the campsite is accessible only by walk.The log cabin / camp is basic with camping gears and toilet. The team consists of a naturalist and two tribal guards.
WALKING SAFARI AND JUNGLE CAMP IN CHINNAR
Wake up to the call of langur , the leaf monkey. You will be guided for a day long exploration trek in Chinnar to explore more wildlife, birds and heritage. Lunch will be provided at base camp or in jungle camp. The trek is through the dry deciduous forest and riparian forest following the wildlife trail. The landscape is undulated. Trek through the open forest area will be in the sun. No weapon will be used during trek , but our team is well trained in walking safari to avoid dangerous animals.
